What does this sentence mean (about the function of red blood cells )?

Your tissues (Muscle, Organs, Glands, etc) all use oxygen in a process called respiration. Respiration is the use of glucose to create energy, this can be done with oxygen or without. When this process uses oxygen it is turned into carbon dioxide. The red blood cells collect this carbon dioxide and carry it to the lungs where it is expelled from the body.
