Question about firefighting?

i just joined my local fd volunteer. we dont have a lot of fires, and if we do its probably just a small chimney fire. My question is what would i do? being new im assuming direct traffic. but i mean what else is there to do? is it mistky like 2 guys to a truck like per hose i mean? and then everyone kinda sits back and maybe asks questions or somethin? whats the deal? is there usually more people to a hose or does it just take 2? what does everyone else do? or is it random?
